News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Year 2 pupils from the Royal High School Bath spent a wonderful morning with award-winning author Patrice Lawrence. They thoroughly enjoyed listening to her speak about her book Granny Came Here On The Empire Windrush and were interested in finding out more about the author, her own family stories and the other books she has written.

Another group of pupils from Year 5 also enjoyed the festival, going on a rip-roaring ride through history with two best-selling authors, Lindsay Galvin and A. M. Howell. It was especially fitting as Year 5 is studying the Victorians, so the pupils were especially keen to learn about real-life places and people during this period and the author really helped them to imagine how it felt to have grown up in in this time.

Mrs Claire Lilley, Head of Prep at Royal High School Bath, said, “A massive thank you to all the authors and to Bath Children’s Literature Festival who year after year create a vibrant and friendly atmosphere where young book fans can meet their favourite authors and book characters.

“Believing passionately in the value of literature, we are proud to sponsor Bath Children’s Literature Festival once again and to be a part of bringing books and stories alive.”
