News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

It’s competition time! To celebrate the launch of Halloween season, Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein is giving away special Family Ticket bundles and other fantastic prizes as part of a Monster Drawing Competition.

The team at Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein is looking for budding young artists to show off their creativity through drawing, painting, and imagining what Mary Shelley’s famous ‘monster’ might look like today. In 1816, Mary Shelley wrote the world’s first science fiction novel, Frankenstein, whilst living in Bath. Her vision for Victor Frankenstein’s Creature was very different from the instantly recognisable green-skinned, flat-headed, lumbering giant that Hollywood created.

Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein in Bath is the only place where Mary’s 8ft creature has been recreated exactly as she imagined him to be. They are challenging young people to come up with their very own interpretation of what Frankenstein’s ‘monster’ would look like today.

How would it look? How would it behave? What would it wear? What abilities or super strengths might it have?
