News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

The Egg Theatre in Bath welcomes Jina and the Stem Sisters, a new production exploring pioneering female scientists, and an enchanting show for younger audiences with the shape-shifting toooB

From Wednesday 9th to Saturday 12th November, children aged seven years and over can join budding scientist, Jina, on her adventure home, in Jina and the Stem Sisters, a new and empowering musical puppet show presented by HDMT Music.

Jina is lost and trying to find her way home. Along the way, she meets some of history’s super-STEM women; women who fought against the odds to pursue their flair for scientific enquiry but were often unacknowledged for their discoveries and frequently encountered discrimination and prejudice along the way.

This new show for schools and families which tours to Bath’s Egg Theatre, is based on the discoveries and stories of inspirational women including digital-coder Ada Lovelace, glamorous inventor Hedy Lamarr, ‘radiating’ Marie Curie and pioneering astronaut Mae Jemison. These figures all offer Jina scientific gifts of curiosity, courage, creativity, persistence and open-mindedness, to help her find her way and follow her dreams in becoming a scientist.

Performed by an all-female team, this ‘expertly crafted, highly imaginative’ (Opera Magazine) show features rap, motown, jazz, opera and musical theatre.

toooB, coming to The Egg Theatre 3-6 November
