News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Three Melksham Primary Schools joined over five thousand students from across the country in the largest school choir in the world, at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham. The choir performed to friends and family alongside special guests Heather Small and Anna Phoebe.

St George’s Primary in Semington, St Mary’s Broughton Gifford, and Seend CE Primary School all joined the Young Voices Choir for the event on 9 January. The choir is renowned for being the largest school choir in the world.

Young Voices ltd first began in 1992 with a 10,000 male-voice sing together. The choir consisted of some of Wales’ most popular performers including, Tom Jones, Dame Gwyneth Jones and Dennis O’Neil. Since then, Young Voices have gone on to win numerous awards including three Guinness World Records.

With over four thousand schools registered to participate in the choir this year, Principal Candida Hutchinson expressed her appreciation for having all three of her schools take part. “We’re honoured to have had the privilege to sing as part of the choir in Birmingham this year. Experiences like this help our students build confidence, self-motivation and the ability to communicate and work as part of a team.

“Thank you to all of the staff, pupils, and organisers for making it a day to remember, we hope to be back next year!”
