News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Check out the latest issue of The Bath & Wiltshire Parent magazine and you’ll see a wonderful news piece about the successful work by a group of skateboarders in Bradford on Avon to raise £250,000 to fund a new skatepark.

To add to the good news, the final design for the new Poulton Park skatepark was unanimously approved by the Town Council

Maverick Industries presented its final skatepark design at the Full Council meeting on Tuesday 7 March, explaining that the design was community led with in put from local skaters and riders having their say in the skatepark.

And Town Councillors unanimously voted to go ahead with the skatepark, a decision applauded by the packed public gallery.

Councillor Katie Vigar, the Mayor of Bradford on Avon, said, “It is really exciting to be in the position now to deliver a new skatepark for use for a range of wheeled sports.

“With the funds in place and with the design supported enthusiastically by councillors and the many young people and families at the meeting, we can now look forward to making this project a reality. Many thanks indeed to everyone who has worked to make this happen.”

The council is now working with Maverick Industries to organise a start date.
