Prior Park College is delighted to be celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE results. Just under 30% of students achieved A* or 8/9 grades – it is the first year that both English exams have been graded numerically with 9 the equivalent of A**. The national trend has seen a slight drop in passes however Prior Park maintained its 100% record of students achieving A*-C grades in a minimum of five subjects.
Notable students include Poppy Askham who swept the board with nine A* and two grade 9’s. Maisie Honey, whose brother Sam was awarded 4 A* A-level grades last week, achieved nine A* and grades 9 and 8. Peter Phillips was the top boy with nine A*s and two grade 7’s. Other top performers include Louisa Tobin who, having been hospital bound at Easter after a serious riding accident, still managed to get four A*s, five As, one grade 6 and one grade 7; Valeria Estrada from Mexico has studied at the College for just a year yet has achieved six GCSEs with English as her second language. Archie Ansell, who joined the College last year after his previous school closed, achieved seven A*, one A and grades 8 and 7. The College had made an exception for Archie and offered 1:1 in Business to enable him to continue at GCSE in this subject.
These GCSE results come a week after the College received its best A-Level results in seven years. Headmaster JMOC commented, “These results are testament to the hard work and dedication of pupils and teachers here at the College. I am delighted that many have achieved and indeed exceeded their goals and ambitions and I look forward to welcoming pupils back in just a few days time to continue their journey as Sixth Formers.”
