Downside School Lower Sixth pupil Zara who has just been invited to join the National Youth Theatre following a highly competitive process in which over 5,000 people auditioned and approximately 8% were accepted.

The National Youth Theatre was described by the theatre’s Jace Xavier as, ”a place to not be boring. It’s a place to be the best version of yourself. It’s also the place to know yourself, to discover parts of yourself you never thought were in you, the hidden parts that most of us tend to hide due to fear of shame. It’s a place to live out loud. A place to grow. A place to be chaotic, to be messy, but good messy, good chaos. It’s also a place to spread your wings and fly. It’s a place to be you.”

Lower Sixth pupil Zara is passionate about performing arts and is studying Drama, History and Economics at A level. She worked closely with her LAMDA coach, Petra Schofield on her two audition pieces.

Ms Schofield said, “Zara is an outstanding pupil across the board. As soon as I started working with her I could see her exceptional talent and passion for drama and dance. I am very excited to watch her career progress as she works with the National Youth Theatre and I am delighted to have played a small part in her journey.”
